Now, you’ve got more options with our level-funded plans
Our Fixed Funding Solutions* suite of level-funded medical plans can provide excellent coverage at potentially significant savings for groups from as few as five (5) enrolled employees up through 51+ employees.
These plans may be able to save your clients up to 25% from the cost of a fully-insured plan. They include a national network, prescription drug benefits, telemedicine, and plans that qualify enrollees to open and save in health savings accounts (HSAs).
Small group brokers: We will let you know if a client pre-qualifies for a level-funded plan and present you with an illustration along with a fully-insured quote. Contact the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) if you have any questions.
Large group brokers: We’re quoting Fixed Funding Solutions for groups of 51+ employees. Contact your ConnectiCare sales representative or account manager to get a quote.
*Fixed Funding Solutions (FFS) plans are self-funded and are exclusively available to CBIA members who qualify. ConnectiCare Insurance Company, Inc., provides certain administrative services and stop loss coverage to employers.

News for your Medicare clients as they enroll in 2020 ConnectiCare plans
Changes to share with your clients for 2020 include Teladoc telemedicine, concierge-quality member service and an expanded provider network that includes New York doctors. Plus, we are updating systems to improve the quality, speed and range of our services for your Medicare clients.
Improvements include:
• |
A new telemedicine benefit through Teladoc for 2020. For a $45 copayment, members can speak to a doctor 24/7 using phone, mobile app or website. Note: Teladoc is not available to members with 2020 dual special needs plan (D-SNP) and some of our Medicare group plans.
|
• |
Expanded member services, through Medicare Connect Concierge, that includes help making doctor appointments and coordinating preauthorizations. See our flyer for details.
|
• |
An expanded provider network so your Medicare Advantage clients with Choice or Flex plans can visit New York health care professionals and medical facilities in the EmblemHealth VIP Prime Network for certain services. Eligible members will have the EmblemHealth logo on their member ID cards.*
|
• |
One ID card for medical, prescription drug and dental coverage (for clients with prescription drug and/or dental benefits).
|
• |
A bound welcome kit with helpful information and a “benefits at a glance” summary to be mailed mid-November to new enrollees and renewing members with plan changes.
|
• |
A comprehensive D-SNP member welcome kit in English and Spanish.
|
* Please note, services for diagnostic exams and eyewear after cataract surgery, behavioral health, dental, chiropractic, occupational and physical therapy are limited to Connecticut providers only. The expanded New York provider network is not available to members with Passage Plan 1 (HMO) and Choice Dual (HMO D-SNP) plans. ConnectiCare is part of the family of EmblemHealth companies.
Other changes we need to let you know about are:
• |
New member ID numbers: Most Medicare members will get new, 11-digit member numbers that start with the letter “K.”
|
• |
New member ID cards reflecting new member ID numbers: Cards will be mailed to members within 10 days of enrolling or making a plan change. Renewing members with no plan changes will get new ID cards in December.
|
• |
New bank processing monthly premium payments: This will begin with the first 2020 invoice we send to your clients in December. This will list the new address for members who mail payments. Members who pay online will need to take some action as we get closer to Jan. 1, 2020. We’ll keep you and your clients informed. Here are the ways your clients can pay premiums after they receive their first 2020 bill in December. Please note, we are no longer using the Direct Debit form. We will have automatic payment options available. Stay tuned for details.

EyeMed vision benefits for select Medicare Advantage plans
In addition to the annual routine eye exam covered for all members, Medicare Advantage members who enroll in Choice Plan 3 (HMO), Flex Plan 3 (HMO-POS), Passage Plan 1 (HMO), and Choice Dual (HMO D-SNP) plans will have eyewear vision benefits with EyeMed.
Members must use an EyeMed provider from the EyeMed national network for both routine eye exams and their eyewear benefit (if included with their plan). The amount you pay for routine eye exams and routine eyewear benefits does not count towards the maximum out of pocket (MOOP).
Refractions will be covered during a routine eye exam if done at the time of the initial exam. They may not be covered if a member has this service on a separate visit.
Please note that Medicare-covered diagnostic vision exams must be performed by a ConnectiCare provider. A provider may be in both the EyeMed and ConnectiCare networks.
Members can find EyeMed providers in the INSIGHT network through the company’s online directory. For ConnectiCare providers, members can use the “Find a doctor” tool on connecticare.com/medicare.

Reminder - Plan changes through member services will not remove you as Agent of Record
Your clients may make plan changes or add dental coverage through the ConnectiCare call center, ConnectiCare centers, or other member services associates. These actions will not affect your status as the Agent of Record for your existing clients. ConnectiCare associates are available to assist your clients with questions regarding their Annual Notification of Change (ANOC), claims, plan changes, and more so you can focus on generating new sale opportunities.
