Individual and group product line-ups for 2021
Our 2021 fully-insured small group plans feature competitive pricing and choice of plans with adult preventive-and-routine dental coverage. We’re happy to announce new plans for 2021, including plans with $0 copays for unlimited virtual visits with Teladoc® and plans that let members pay less when they use preferred providers.
If you haven’t quoted ConnectiCare recently, you will want to include our 2021 plans in the proposals that you show your clients. Find product brochures below.
Fully-insured small group plans are available directly from ConnectiCare as well as through CBIA Health Connections. And we’re on Access Health CT for Small Businesses (aka SHOP), offering small businesses more plan options directly from ConnectiCare or through SHOP. Contact your sales representative for more information.

2021 broker commission plan for individual sales

New Compass tiered-network plans for groups of 51+
With Compass plans, members will have lower copayments, deductibles, and/or coinsurance when they visit preferred PCPs and hospitals. Members can still visit other, “participating,” providers in the plan’s network: their cost shares will be higher.
Preferred PCPs are those who accept our Passage plans. Hospitals have been designated as “preferred” or “participating” based on ConnectiCare’s analysis of objective, third-party cost-and-quality data. Members of Compass plans can use the “Find a doctor” directory on connecticare.com to find preferred and participating providers.
We developed Compass plans to give customers an option that could help lower their insurance costs. Ask your sales executive or account manager for more information about 2021 Compass plans.

Important Jan. 1, 2021 updates for ConnectiCare commercial plans
Changes to benefits and systems serving ConnectiCare commercial business mean all commercial members will have new ID numbers and ID cards by Jan. 1, 2021.
Continuing a process started this summer, all commercial members will have new, 11-digit member ID numbers that begin with the letter “K.” Before year-end, we will mail new ID cards to:
• |
Large group employer plans with renewal dates between Jan. 1, 2021 and July 1, 2021, and small group employer plans with Jan. 1, 2021 effective dates.
|
• |
Individual plans, including those purchased through Access Health CT, with effective dates of Jan. 1, 2021 and after.
|
New policy for new individual subscribers: We will hold member ID cards until subscribers secure coverage by paying the first month's—January's—premium bill.
Employer group plans: more information
Member ID cards will be mailed in early December so employees of the large groups described above receive cards in their homes by the middle of that month. A letter with the ID card(s) tells members why they are getting a new card. The letter notes that they will have a new ID number and new benefits and features after Jan. 1, 2021.
Please note: We have safeguards in place to make sure our members’ claims will be paid and they can get their prescriptions filled after the new year.
January invoices for the large groups described above will be mailed mid- to late December and available on the secure broker and employer websites after Dec. 22.
Our account management team will soon reach out to you and your large group clients with plan effective dates between Feb. 1, 2021 and July 1, 2021. Meanwhile, here are some resources you can share with your clients:
Individual members: what’s coming for 2021
• |
New member numbers and cards: Cards will be mailed starting in December.
|
• |
Welcome letters will be mailed to subscribers with information on how to find their benefit summaries, membership agreements or certificates of coverage, riders, and other essential plan information on connecticare.com.
|
• |
Telemedicine services from Teladoc®, a nationally known provider. Teladoc replaces MDLIVE®.
|
Other changes for individual clients include:
• |
New address to send premium payments: We are moving our premium payment accounts to JP Morgan Chase. The new payment address will be listed on 2021 bills starting with January’s bill. It is:
ConnectiCare
P.O. Box 21849
New York, NY 10087-1849
Note: If clients send payments to the wrong bank, we will see that payments are applied to the correct accounts.
|
• |
New payment website through connecticare.com: Encourage clients to set up new premium payment accounts in December in advance of their Jan. 1, 2021 effective dates. We will send letters to your clients who had arranged for automatic payments in 2020 so they can update their information.
|
• |
New billing date for SOLO subscribers: We will mail invoices to SOLO subscribers around the 14th of the month. That’s the same time as we send invoices to members with plans sold through Access Health CT.
|
|
|
SOLO plans: Change in notification of client letters
Brokers will no longer receive an email when a SOLO client enrolls or makes a plan change. You will still receive a copy of the letter they are sent, but it will come in the mail rather than as an email attachment.

Giving Medicare members reasons to stay
We recently sent our Medicare Advantage members a mailing to help guide them through the annual enrollment period.
The letters include details specific to the member’s 2020 plan election. They explain the enhancements available with 2021 plans and have information on what optional supplemental dental plans are available with a member’s plan, including new options.
Select Passage members were also notified about the potential impacts to their primary care provider (PCP) and new plan options.
Please encourage your clients to review these letters as they consider their 2021 Medicare plan options.

Resources: Certification, Doc-U-Sign, sales materials
Your account manager can direct you to a variety of resources to help you sell this season. Ask them about:
• |
2021 Medicare certification — They can provide you with the code you need to complete the process.
|
• |
Doc-U-Sign — You should have received a welcome email. This service is now available for scope of appointment and application submission. Ask about upcoming training sessions.
|
• |
Enrollment kits — Send digital enrollment kits—for Choice (HMO D-SNP) and other Medicare Advantage plans—to help your clients during open enrollment. You can also request printed copies.

Cost-share waivers extended for COVID-19 testing
There will be no cost shares – copays, deductibles, and/or coinsurance – for COVID-19 diagnostic testing through Jan. 21, 2021. This follows the announcement earlier this month by the federal Department of Health and Human Services that the public health emergency has been extended until that date.
Up-to-date coverage and benefit information is in the COVID-19 section of our website.

|
We’re letting your clients know of 2021 changes to our list of covered drugs
Next month we will send letters to both commercial and Medicare Advantage members who may be affected by 2021 changes to our list of covered drugs.
The letters will let members know if the drugs they have previously taken will:
• |
No longer be covered;
|
• |
Change tiers so their cost share may be higher;
|
• |
Need preauthorization before we will cover it;
|
• |
Be limited in terms of how much can be prescribed by the doctor; or,
|
• |
Need step therapy approval, which means the member will need to try a different drug first before we will cover it.
|
If your clients have questions, please recommend that they speak to their doctors. Copies of the 2021 formularies are available below:

Help group clients encourage employees to get a flu shot
Doctors say it is more important than ever this year that people age 6 months and older get flu shots. Please remind clients that the flu shot is free* for their employees with a ConnectiCare plan. They should urge employees to make a flu shot plan for themselves and their families.
Here are some resources to help employers encourage flu shots:
*If a member gets a flu shot while visiting their doctor for another reason, their plan’s copayment, deductible, and coinsurance will apply to the visit. Also, if a member gets it at an out-of-network doctor, they will have to submit an out-of-plan reimbursement form.

ConnectiCare in the community
Employees from our affiliate company WellSpark Health helped Foodshare distribute food to help families in need at Rentschler Field in East Hartford earlier this month.
Congratulations to ConnectiCare President Eric Galvin for being honored by Hartford Business Journal in its 2020 C-suite Awards! This year, the awards recognized six executives for their commitment to excellence and their leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more about Eric’s experience and leadership at ConnectiCare. See the full list of C-Suite Award honorees.
Galvin also took part in the annual Insurance Capital Summit, presented by Connecticut Insurance & Financial Services (CT IFS). He spoke on both days of the virtual event and moderated a panel discussion titled “The New World of Insurance: East Coast, West Coast, and International CEO Perspectives.” Roberta Wachtelhausen, president of WellSpark Health, was a panelist in a discussion titled “Innovation in Stressful Times.” (Note: Galvin is the board chair of CT IFS.)
