EFT commissions for large-group sales to come from PNC Bank
Many brokers have elected to receive their ConnectiCare large group sales commissions electronically. If you have, we want to let you know that commissions for new business and renewals for Aug. 1, 2020 and later will be paid as electronic funds transfers (EFTs) from PNC Bank.
Payments from PNC will appear in the account you have set up to receive the direct deposits. You do not need to take any action. You will also continue to receive EFT payments from Bank of America for commissions associated with business effective before Aug. 1, 2020.
Please note, if you currently receive commission checks, you will begin to receive multiple checks for large group sales with effective dates of Aug. 1, 2020 and later. The checks will reflect the underwriting entities of products sold to your large group clients.
In summary, here’s what you can expect after Aug. 1, 2020:

Small-group clients begin to move under CBIA administration Aug. 1
Plans for small-group clients will begin to move under administration by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) on Aug. 1, 2020. As part of this change, your small-group clients will enjoy the services of nationally known telemedicine provider Teladoc® and, if they have FlexPOS plans, a new national network in First Health®.
New small-group clients with effective dates of Aug. 1, 2020 or later will be administered by CBIA upon enrollment. Current ConnectiCare small-group clients will move over and have their services administered by CBIA according to the schedule presented in last month’s SalesCall. We will reach out to you and your small-group clients approximately 60 days before their transition so they know what to expect. Your account manager will work closely with you to ensure you have everything you need to help your clients through this transition period.
As a reminder, we will issue new member ID numbers and cards to the employees of your small-group clients. Share this employer guide to small-group changes with your employer groups, featuring additional details on the changes they’ll experience as they move to CBIA administration.
Please refer to last month’s article for more information.

Large-group clients to start transitioning to new features and benefits on Aug. 1
Your large-group clients with ConnectiCare plans will transition to some new features and benefits on a rolling basis through 2020. These changes include: a nationally known telemedicine provider in Teladoc® and (for those with Flex POS plans) a new national network in First Health®, an Aetna subsidiary.
The transition for current large-group clients will occur based on the schedule presented in last month’s SalesCall. We will reach out to your large-group clients in advance so they know what to expect, and we’ll work with you throughout the renewal process.
New ConnectiCare plans as of Aug. 1, 2020 and later will have these features and benefits when they enroll. Please remember to use our new enrollment forms for fully-insured or self-funded groups to enroll new groups.
Employees of your large-group clients will receive new member ID cards and numbers (with a new group number) in advance of the date when their accounts transition. There will also be updates to the premium payment process. Share this large-group employer resource with your clients. It summarizes the changes.

ConnectiCare centers prepare to reopen
Connecticut is reopening – and so are we. We’re ready to welcome members back to our ConnectiCare centers – with some changes – beginning Aug. 5. We’ll have updated hours and locations on visitconnecticare.com.
Please share the following safety guidelines with your clients if they plan to visit one of our locations:
• |
Appointments are required. Please call 1-877-523-6837 (TTY: 711) or go to visitconnecticare.com to make an appointment.
|
• |
Employees and visitors alike must wear masks or cloth face coverings while inside the facility. If you are unable to wear a mask, we can help you by phone.
|
• |
All visitors must use the designated sanitizing station as they enter and maintain social distancing.
|
• |
After sanitizing, check in at the front desk. A staff member will direct you to a waiting area or bring you to a meeting space.
|
If a member feels sick or has been around someone who was sick, we ask that they please stay home.
We are happy to help over the phone. Our self-serve coffee and water stations are closed for now to protect visitors and staff. We aren’t holding in-person events at this time, either.
We are opening a new, larger center in Shelton, replacing the center in Bridgeport. Our Newington center will not reopen. We look forward to serving members from the Newington area at the Manchester center.
Members can also reach our helpful center staff by phone with questions about their ConnectiCare plans. They can call 1-877-523-6837 (TTY: 711) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday for help.
Keep an eye on visitconnecticare.com for hours and locations and encourage your employees to follow us on social media to be the first to know when we reopen.

ConnectiCare in the community
ConnectiCare’s Vice President, Clinical Operations Karen Eckert shared the floor with other Connecticut health care leaders at a Moving to Value Alliance panel earlier this month. The session focused on the need for better integration of mental health in our care delivery system. Eckert shared how our “Peace of Mind” initiative is helping to address the physical and mental effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on our members and our staff.
Also this month, our Chief Operating Officer Rob Kosior took part in the Public Health Committee’s information hearing on telehealth services. Watch the full meeting.
