Help clients who are losing coverage with plans from ConnectiCare

The economic turbulence caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has many people searching for health insurance. Do you have clients who:

Are losing health insurance coverage through an employer, spouse, parent, or domestic partner?
Have individual plans but have had a drop in income?
Are eligible for Medicare?

In all the cases above, ConnectiCare can help. We offer individual and family plans through Access Health CT, the state’s insurance marketplace; SOLO individual and family plans; and Medicare Advantage plans.

Let your clients know they can reach out to you, or they can:

Call us at 1-877-530-1222 (plans for individuals under age 65) or 1-877-224-8221 (TTY: 711) (Medicare-eligible individuals). Medicare lines are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Visit accesshealthct.com for Access Health CT plans.
Get a quote for individual SOLO plans.

This is intended to be used for general information purposes only, and should not be relied upon as containing complete information regarding special enrollment periods or eligibility criteria for enrollment. An individual will not be enrolled under a special enrollment period until an application is completed, reviewed, and sufficient proof of an individual’s qualifying event is provided.

Taking care of members: newsletters mailed to commercial and Medicare Advantage members

We’ve shared information through emails, websites, and social media on coverage, benefits, and health and safety information related to COVID-19. We want, however, to do our best to make sure every member knows what ConnectiCare is doing to help them and others.

Last week, we mailed printed newsletters to the homes of:

All Medicare Advantage households, including those with the Choice Dual (HMO D-SNP) plan.
Subscribers of group and individual plans who haven’t provided us with their email addresses.

Here are links to view the newsletters by audience:

Choice Dual (HMO D-SNP) – English: Housecall and FAQs; Spanish: Housecall and FAQs

Nurse care managers available to help members

ConnectiCare members have a team of health care professionals ready to help with managing care and chronic conditions. Even as many doctors’ offices remain closed, we have a range of health-related services available at no additional cost.

Our team of nurses, pharmacists, social workers, certified diabetes educators, and health navigators can help members with things like:

Managing a condition or illness, like diabetes, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or heart disease.
Filling or paying for prescriptions.
Quitting smoking.
Educational materials and supplies like blood pressure monitors and diabetes testing supplies.

And when offices and medical facilities open again, they can also help with:

Arranging rides to doctors’ appointments.
Answering questions about an upcoming surgery or procedure.
Staying on track with annual checkups, immunizations, and cancer screenings.
Finding urgent care centers for non-emergencies.

These health care professionals work with a member’s doctors to coordinate care and keep everyone informed. It’s all part of being a ConnectiCare member.

If your clients have questions or need help, they can call 1-800-390-3522 (TTY: 711).

Mental health support available to members

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We encourage you to remind your clients of the behavioral health benefits included in their ConnectiCare plans.

Members can sign in at liveandworkwell.com (register with their ConnectiCare member identification number) to find local mental health professionals or make appointments for virtual visits. Remember: members will not pay a cost share (no copay, deductible, or coinsurance) for telehealth visits with in-network mental health professionals through May 31.
Members can call the Optum support line at 1-866-342-6892. There is no charge, and professionals are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Optum also has a new app called Sanvello, available from mobile app stores. With Sanvello, members can explore guided meditations, learn coping and relaxation techniques, find peer communities, and more. Sanvello is included at no extra cost with ConnectiCare’s behavioral health benefits. And right now, ConnectiCare members can use the app’s premium features at no cost for 12 months after registration.

ConnectiCare in the community

Some ConnectiCare employees joined hundreds across the nation for the Race Against Hunger virtual 5K to help support Connecticut Food Bank efforts to feed our community during this difficult time.

Other stories in the community:

Working with Norwalk Pizza & Pasta and the Greater Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, ConnectiCare helped provide lunches for 40 health care workers at Norwalk Hospital. Read more in our press release.
Senior Medical Director Dr. Waldemar Rosario appeared on the Spanish-language broadcast Dinámica Radio to discuss the importance of social distancing and how to manage stress and anxiety during this uncertain time.
ConnectiCare President Eric Galvin joined MetroHartford Alliance’s Pulse of the Region for an episode titled Community Steps Up in Wake of COVID-19.
Eric also talked with Fox61 about how ConnectiCare was extending help to its members who may need some extra help to stay safe at home.
